Card Caddy

Perhaps you will remember when I wrote of a woodworker’s affliction which I referred to as a “packrat tendency”? This is accumulating small pieces of showy wood for a future and unknown project. Some sufferers claim to know what project they are saving this stuff for, but I suppose that I am just not that well organized. Regardless, this post illustrates the utility of this practice.

My client is a prolific mailer of “Thank You” cards. I knew her first in my role of General Contractor, when, after finishing a project at her maintenance intensive Victorian home, I would often receive payment with a personal notation inside a floral English “Thank You” card. I have to say that I loved her sense of style.

I was asked if I could please provide suitable housing for some new artisanal pen and ink cards which she was then favoring. NOTE: This is only “on deck” storage, her lineup is deep. Fortunately, I had sequestered some walnut and cherry crotch figure for just this piece. Probably.
